Surbiton Challenger: Day 4

The second round of the Surbiton Trophy got underway today, with the women’s event taking place at Surbiton and the men’s taking place at the NTC again.
Third seed Marina Erakovic beat Melinda Czink 7-6 7-6, fourth seed Anne Keothavong was a 6-4 6-4 winner over American Ahsha Rolle, qualifier Carly Gullickson knocked out eighth seed Katie O’Brien, Monique Adamczak beat wildcard Georgie Stoop, , Abigail Spears beat Rika Fukiwara, Yanina Wickmayer had a comfortable victory over Betina Jozami, Tamarine Tanasugarn beat wildcard Elena Baltacha and Regina Kulikova beat wildcard Mel South.
Anne Keothavong is the sole remaining British player in the women’s draw, and plays qualifier Carly Gullickson in the quarter-finals.
In the men’s draw, Robert Smeets went through when top seed Marcos Baghdatis gave him a walkover in their second round match. He now plays qualifier Frank Dancevic, who had an easy win over wildcard Alex Slabinsky. Third seed Arnaud Clement beat Rohan Bopanna to set up a meeting with eighth seed Edouard Roger Vasselin, who defeated compatriot Gary Lugassy. Fifth seed Kevin Anderson had a straight sets win over wildcard Josh Goodall, and now plays Stephane Bohli, who knocked out Alex Kuznetsov. Adrian Mannarino took out 6th seed Philipp Petzschner and plays Harel Levy, who beat wildcard Alex Bogdanovic.
